The unintended expat blogger behind Relocate & Thrive

Hello, I am Avery
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Toronto, Canada.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much bigger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Relocate & Thrive
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.
What This Site Contains (And Does Not)
This site offers:
- Real-world insights from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there are meaningful updates
This site is not:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Canada goes on, and so does our learning journey. As long as the details remain helpful, I will keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Avery
